Welcome "Adoption Friends"

... and hello to everyone else.  I know, I know... I haven't blogged in a while but there's wasn't much going on - at least not anything that deserved to be shared here. This past Tuesday Jeff and I had the opportunity to meet the officials from the Marshall Islands at a reception hosted by LSS. Also, we had the chance to meet a few more waiting families in the RMI program! Hello and welcome to our new Adoption Friends!

For those of you who don't know that story - when Jeff and I crashed the USCIS office in St. Paul to get our fingerprints done early, the woman at the desk allowed us to do so but kindly asked us, "please don't tell all your adoption friends."  Oops - guess I just did :)

But back to the reception: the RMI officials included Claudia, Director of the CAA, Gordon, the attorney who will represent us in court, the Minister of Internal Affairs and the Secretary of Internal Affairs. Immediately after our adoption worker introduced them to the group, she pulled us over to introduce us to Claudia. We had a nice conversation with her and were happy/reassured to hear her say directly that we are next on the list. Because of delivery dates and waiting periods, she was careful not to share too much about our next referral but we did learn that there's a potential match in the works.

The group of four arrived in MN last Friday and stayed about a week. Their next stop is Portland, Oregon for a visit with RMI families in that area. Business will resume as normal when they return to the RMI around the 20th and we are hopeful that some paperwork will come our way a couple weeks later. Of course, things could always change so we're not making any travel arrangements yet!

And, speaking of travel... I'd like to get the word out that if anyone knows anyone who knows anyone (network, people!) who is a ticketing agent for Continental Airlines and who would be willing to help us make our flight reservations when the time comes, PLEASE email me directly to let me know. Some of you have also asked how you can help - if you have extra frequent flier miles on Continental that you're looking to get rid of, we'll take donations!

Everyone have a great weekend!
